Hjort has extensive and varied experience of competition law issues. We assist our clients in a number of different sectors, including telecoms, media, energy, construction and retail, and in all aspects of competition law, including mergers and acquisitions, other business combinations, anti-competitive agreements and abuse of a dominant market position.

We can provide assessments in advance, quality assurance and help to increase clients’ competence in this area. We can also handle specific cases vis-à-vis the competition authorities.

A significant portion of our work in the field of competition law relates to areas that are also subject to sector-specific legislation. In such areas, the key often lies in the relationship between the sector-specific legislation and competition law provisions. At the same time, our experience with the sectoral authorities’ administrative procedures is also important.

The competition rules are enforced under both administrative law practices, i.e. dawn raids and investigations by the Norwegian Competition Authority, and under civil law through legal action in the courts. Such cases often require expertise in areas other than competition law. Hjort has strong professional practices covering litigation and cases of financial crime, which makes us ideally equipped to deal with such investigations and legal actions in the best possible way.
