ASL’s Banking & Finance, and Islamic Finance practice advises on a broad range of matters spanning debt capital markets, Islamic finance, structured finance and project-related financings. The team acts for issuers, arrangers and financial institutions on complex and cross-border transactions, including hybrid capital structures. It is noted for its ability to integrate conventional and Islamic financing frameworks and to structure transactions in line with international capital markets standards.
The practice has experience in multi-layered and structured transactions. Recent work includes advising PETRONAS on its USD30 billion global medium term note programme, Affin Bank on its debut offshore EMTN programme, and on a securitisation of pawnshop receivables through an asset-backed MTN structure. The team also advises on hybrid and structured sukuk, including exchangeable and subordinated perpetual instruments.
The firm is active in ESG and sustainable finance, including sustainability-linked sukuk programmes supporting renewable energy and infrastructure projects. It also advises on project and infrastructure financings, as well as regulatory capital issuances and corporate funding programmes.
The practice is supported by a broad bench of partners able to deliver across a full spectrum of financing mandates beyond its core strengths in Islamic finance and debt capital markets.
