Background
The IR35 rules changed for the private sector from 6 April 2021, shifting the responsibility for the determination of employment status from individual to engager. If the individual is found to be an employee, the liability for any unpaid employment tax required falls to the engaging company. This liability could be significant.
The scale and frequency of testing required, and the complexity of determining employment status in the media sector means these changes are particularly daunting for entertainment businesses – our product makes it easier.
