Since 2017, PGP has been actively processing before the local environmental authority a water permit for one of its Client´s, specifically for a property located in a rural area in the municipality of “La Calera” in the department of Cundinamarca, in order to meet the property´s water consumption needs required for commercial purposes.
On 2018, the local environmental authority granted the water permit authorizing the Client to collect water from a gorge named “Quebrada Carnicerías” in flow rate of 0, 01 liters per second.
However, this volume did not meet the property´s water consumption needs. Thus, PGP filed a request to amend the permit in order to increase the volume arguing that the volume granted was insufficient and that increasing the volume and flow rate was necessary to satisfy water consumption needs for the execution of commercial activities.
Finally, on September 2019 the environmental authority accepted PGP´s arguments and decided to amend the water permit increasing water flow to 0, 08 liters per second.
Note that this case was of great relevance, since the local environmental authority is currently restricting water permits in the municipality of “La Calera” due to conservation reasons, but the Client was able to demonstrate along with technical studies that the collection of water will be done in a sustainable manner and protecting the environment at all times.
