VS is now Vicente LLP
A couple of months ago, we announced Vicente Sederberg would be changing its name following Christian Sederberg’s decision to leave his role as a partner so he can focus on policy work and advocacy. Christian remains at the firm as special counsel and will also be taking on a greater role at our public affairs affiliate, VS Strategies, as he explores new opportunities in cannabis, psychedelics, and other areas. We’re incredibly grateful to him for the 12 years he dedicated to the firm as a partner, leader, and visionary, and we’re eager to continue working with him in his new capacity.
With that successful transition behind us, we have officially shortened our name to Vicente LLP and adopted a new logo and URL — VicenteLLP.com. We will continue to receive emails at our old VS addresses, but our responses will come from our new Vicente email addresses (first initial.last [email protected]). We encourage you to update your address book.
Otherwise, it will be business as usual, without interruption in service or deliverables. Our team of nearly 100 attorneys and professionals will continue working full-time on cannabis and psychedelics law, policy, and advocacy matters coast to coast and around the globe.

Vicente Welcomes Largest Ever New Partner Class
We are also thrilled to announce that six of our top attorneys were recently elevated to partners at Vicente LLP: Michelle Bodian, Meg Nash, Jeremy Shaw, and David Ullian from our Boston office; Jennifer Cabrera from our New Jersey office; and Carl Werner, a longtime member of our Denver office who is now based in Missouri. Michelle Bodian is co-chair of the firm’s national Hemp and Cannabinoids Department and counsels clients through the state-by-state patchwork of regulatory requirements. Licensed to practice in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York, she has successfully guided dozens of clients through license applications in Connecticut and New York. Michelle also leads the firm’s Environment, Health & Safety practice group where she has counseled clients through a variety of air, water, waste, land, and OSHA-related issues. She is recognized as one of “Boston’s Top Lawyers” by Boston magazine.
Jennifer Cabrera focuses on licensing and regulatory matters and has served as lead attorney on dozens of state and local applications in the New York Tri-state region. She manages the firm’s New Jersey office and is actively involved in promoting and working with small and locally-owned businesses across the region. Jennifer serves on the board of the National Hispanic Cannabis Council and has been recognized as a top cannabis attorney by Best Lawyers and Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers.
Meg Nash focuses her practice on guiding clients through cannabis license application processes, land use and zoning requirements, and regulatory and compliance matters. She has assisted clients in Massachusetts and across the U.S. and looks forward to working with clients in the emerging Rhode Island and Maryland cannabis markets. She is recognized as a top lawyer in Land Use and Zoning law by “Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch” and was named one of “Boston’s Top Lawyers” by Boston magazine.
Jeremy Shaw is a member of the firm’s Corporate Department, where he advises clients in a wide range of corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, private placements, debt financing, commercial arrangements, and corporate governance. He has represented public and private companies, buyers, sellers, issuers and investors, giving him a breadth of experience to advise clients of all types at various stages in the corporate lifecycle. Jeremy was named one of “Boston’s Top Lawyers” by Boston magazine and is listed as a “Rising Star” by Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers.
David Ullian is a member of the firm’s Land Use & Zoning, Licensing, and Regulatory Compliance Departments. His practice focuses on assisting a wide range of commercial cannabis clients, from multi-state operators to small family-owned companies, in obtaining state and local cannabis licenses, permits and approvals, and navigating the regulatory landscapes of the industry. David is recognized by his peers in the "Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch" list for his work in Land Use and Zoning Law and was also named one of “Boston's Top Lawyers” by Boston magazine.
Carl Werner advises clients on corporate and transactional matters, as well as providing licensing and regulatory counsel within emerging states in the Mountain and Central U.S. regions. He has successfully guided many clients from startup to exit or IPO and beyond, as well as advising on items such as debt financings, private placements, opinion letters, c-suite compensation and commercial transactions. Carl is also highly experienced in assisting clients with business and financial plans for cannabis licensing applications and maintains a small but vibrant practice in the area of maritime law.
