Buenos Aires, November 9th, 2022. On November 1st, Beccar Varela formally inaugurated its Public Affairs Department, becoming the first full-service law firm in Argentina to make official this practice area. Camila Corvalán, senior associate specializing in government relations, competition and antitrust, and international trade, will lead the new department made up of an experienced team.
The Department of Public Affairs’ main goal will be to provide solutions to companies from the perspective of Argentina’s regulatory framework and its impact on corporate practice. Advice focuses on three fundamental pillars: the regulatory audit, to analyze the structure of the client’s business and identify regulations applicable to their activity; the early warning system, to inform the client about regulatory changes that could affect their business; and the elaboration of potential solutions to particular problems. The team will work in an integral manner with all practice areas to continue to provide the market-leading seamless full-service support that clients recognize from the firm.
Horacio E. Beccar Varela, the managing partner, states that the incorporation of the Department of Public Affairs responds to client demand as well as the constant growth of the firm: “Markets constantly generate new products and services that inevitably produce changes in the rules of the game, unprecedented regulations and, above all, a growing need for answers. This team of highly specialized professionals across different practice areas and industries is ready to address these demands.” Camila Corvalán also adds, “Over time, we noticed that formalizing this area was necessary to help our clients with the efficiency of their business. We are proud to again be pioneers in Argentina, and in line with the world’s leading law firms.” Further, team member Mariano Plaza highlighted that “The formalization of this area gives us the opportunity to analyze as a whole our clients’ day-to-day business.”
