Career
Susan Hiser is the managing partner of the Detroit office. She practices in the areas of labor and employment counseling, investigations and litigation on behalf of a variety of employers. Susan has over 30 years of experience counseling employers on various employment matters, such as discrimination and harassment, FMLA compliance, ADA accommodations, and disciplinary issues.
Susan regularly drafts and reviews employment contracts, personnel policies and employee handbooks and conducts in-house training on all areas of employment law, with a particular emphasis on harassment prevention. She is frequently called upon to conduct workplace investigations, both on behalf of her own clients and as an outside investigator, and serves as a Title IX hearing officer. Additionally, Susan represents employers in single and multi-plaintiff litigation filed in both state and federal courts, as well as in administrative proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Michigan Department of Civil Rights, and the Department of Labor.
