Riza is a banking and finance lawyer with over 20 years’ experience, specialising in financial restructuring, refinancing, insolvency, business rescue and workouts.
He co-founded the law firm, CMS South Africa, having previously headed Banking & Finance at the South African branch of an international law firm.
Riza advises on complex high-value domestic cross - border banking and finance transactions and leads large multi-disciplinary teams in complicated debt restructuring, workouts, business rescue and refinancing transactions.
His advice includes security reviews, finance and security documents restructuring, new money solutions, post commencement financing, strategic asset sales, compromises and schemes of arrangement, distressed equity capital raising, restructuring strategy, distressed debt trading, to mention a few.
