Radha Curpen is Vice-Chair, Vancouver Managing Partner, National Leader of ESG Strategy and Solutions and co-head of the firm's Environmental Law practice.

She is recognized as a preeminent legal expert on environment, regulatory, climate change, Indigenous relations, governance for the energy, infrastructure, natural resources, agribusiness, industrial, consumer goods, mining and other sectors. Radha advises on environmental and impact assessments, transportation of dangerous goods, energy transition, renewable projects, partnerships with Indigenous communities, contaminated sites, and crisis prevention and management.

Radha regularly advises corporations, boards of directors, special committees, Indigenous communities and governmental and regulatory agencies across Canada and globally on a wide range of commercial transactions, project development, operational matters. Her advice is informed by her diverse advisory and corporate directorship roles, including the Chair of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, a member of the Board of Governors of the Business Council of British Columbia, corporate director of Innergex Renewable Energy.

Radha is a sought-after advisor on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and regularly advises on the ESG-related risks and opportunities, ESG-related reporting against standards, frameworks, and certifications, and ESG strategy and solutions. She is a member of the ESG Advisory Council to the Minister of Finance (British Columbia) and is a member of Canadian Association of Pension Supervisory Authorities' ESG Industry Working Group for the for the development of an ESG guide for pension fund investment and pension plan administrators.

Her climate change practice draws on her experience in Canadian and U.S. environmental regulatory compliance, commercial transactions, projects and ESG strategies. She advises on greenhouse gas emissions, control measures, credit and trading under regulatory regimes, project development, ESG disclosure and sustainable business strategy.

Radha's work on advising clients in different sectors, and on strategies, policies and protocols on sustainability gives her a broad perspective on climate change programs, renewable projects and carbon offsets.

Radha also advises on modern slavery, supply chain risk management and human rights related issues, risk assessment and management of business disruptions, preparing for and responding to inspections and regulations and defending environmental and regulatory prosecutions, preparing for and responding to shareholder activism on ESG related issues.

She is a trusted strategic advisor to some of the firm’s most significant clients and has acted on a number of recent high-profile matters, including commercial transactions and prosecutions, leveraging her ability to take corporate strategy and proactively manage corporate reputation by helping identify and mitigate associated environmental, social, regulatory and public policy risks.

Personal

Radha joined the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade in September 2017 as a Director and in 2018 became a member of the Executive Committee. In 2019, Radha joined the board of directors for Windmill Microlending. Radha joined the Board Of Governors for the Business Council of BC (BCBC) in May 2020.
