Career

Ed Sullivan is a labor and employment trial lawyer based in Houston. He is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and represents companies, executives, and employees in all types of employment litigation. He successfully argued and won Helix Energy Solutions Group, Inc. v. Hewitt, 152 S. Ct. 2674 (2023) before the U.S. Supreme Court on an important case under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act.

At trial, Ed is prepared and thorough. He has obtained several favorable judgments, including one of the largest verdicts recorded in a retaliation trial in the Southern District of Texas -- over $3 million, more than 30 times the ex-employee’s annual pay. In terms of his appellate work, Ed has represented clients in over a dozen published opinions and has appeared and won before the U.S. Supreme Court. He previously won the case in September 2021 before an en banc U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Hewitt v. Helix Energy Solutions Group, Inc., 15 F.4th 289 (5th Cir. 2021).
