Mirjam de Blécourt is a leading employment lawyer and a partner at Baker McKenzie in Amsterdam. During her phenomenal career, she has been listed multiple times as one of the 200 most influential people in the Netherlands by the Dutch newspaper, de Volkskrant. She has also published a book titled Vrijgevochten in 2019 about her path to the top and how she managed her professional career whilst also being a mother. She is an advocate for women’s rights and frequently speaks about the issues around diversity and inclusion, leading her to win the Inclusion & Diversity Champion Award from her own law firm, Baker McKenzie.

Talking to Magdalena Parkitna, Mirjam de Blécourt recalls her journey of becoming a lawyer and also describes some of the challenges that she has encountered. She remembers how she felt when she picked up the first copy of her book and what prompted her to write her story. She also talks about the mentoring program that she has started together with female partners at other leading Dutch law firms, where women share stories and support the next generation of female lawyers.
