Cohen Seglias has a significant presence in the construction industry and is one of the largest construction practices on the East Coast. The firm’s 50 fulltime construction attorneys represent every potential party in a dispute on a project, including general contractors, subcontractors, owners, architects, engineers, developers, sureties, design professionals, and suppliers. The group works for clients on all types of construction projects including bridges, water treatment plants, petro-chemical plants, dams, highways, major office buildings, stadiums, hospitals, shopping centers, condominiums, government buildings, airports, factories, and schools.

Construction Contracts & Risk Management:
The group works with clients from project conception to completion to simplify the construction process, protect their rights, and minimize risk. The attorneys help clients review, negotiate, and draft the various documents utilized in construction projects including contracts, purchase orders, joint venture agreements, change orders, performance and payment bonds, general agreements of indemnity, insurance policies, releases, and mechanics’ lien waivers.

Consumer Protection & Regulatory Defense:
The practice represents Fortune 500 corporations and other businesses who are the targets of consumer protection investigations conducted by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General into allegations of deceptive and unfair business practices under the Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law. The attorneys also have extensive experience defending individual and class action claims alleging a variety of federal consumer protection laws. Energy & Utilities: The group is dedicated to serving the legal needs of companies engaged in the energy industry in Pennsylvania. It assists clients with the legal, regulatory, financial, and political challenges facing energy companies involved in natural gas, oil, and coal production.
