Toby’s work includes financial markets and finance litigation, competition litigation and class actions and international arbitration, including particularly contract-based claims and defences in a range of sectors. He has extensive experience in cases involving complex damages issues and procedural issues under many systems of rules domestically and internationally, as well as in interim measures and enforcement. As a solicitor-advocate Toby has appeared in interim and final hearings in domestic and international arbitral and other tribunals and before the English High Court.

Toby was a solicitor at Linklaters and Debevoise & Plimpton and founded Starr Legal in the City of London before joining HK in 2018.

- Acting for a high net-worth individual in complex multi-creditor litigation against European investor, including obtaining freezing injunction, specific performance order and carve-out in separate contested final charging order proceedings.
- Acting for, and appearing as advocate on behalf of, a Brazilian bank client against US bank in an English Commercial Court action concerning an ISDA derivatives contract.
