Shemane Amin

Shemane Amin is a Partner at ALN Tanzania and a member of the Corporate Department. She also manages the firm’s client experience and is responsible for overseeing operations.

Shemane is a market entry and expansion specialist, exceling in guiding foreign investors entering or expanding in the Tanzanian market. She advises international and local acquiring firms and targets in various commercial transactions, including structuring joint ventures, asset purchase acquisitions, disposals of businesses, and share purchase acquisitions. Particularly in highly regulated Tanzanian sectors such as natural resources, hospitality, financial services, and telecommunications, Shemane guides clients through comprehensive due diligence investigations, pre-transaction structuring, drafting and negotiation of transaction documentation, and regulatory clearances. Shemane offers expertise in establishing business structures, leveraging strategic fiscal and non-fiscal investment incentives, navigating access to land, addressing employment considerations, and understanding the relevant legal and tax frameworks. Her deep knowledge and hands-on approach, together with her practical experience, ensure that investors are well-equipped to successfully launch and grow their operations in Tanzania.

The experience of having filled various legal and non-legal management roles in domestic and large-scale multinational companies, as well as establishing her own business ventures in Tanzania, brings a practical and commercially sensitive approach to her legal practice.

Shemane is one of Tanzania’s few US-Tanzanian dual-qualified lawyers, having been admitted to practice in both Massachusetts and Tanzania. She is a graduate of the Boston University School of Law where she graduated with a Juris Doctor and she holds a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University where she received a full scholarship under the Robertson Scholars Program.
