Sarah McWhirter

Practice Areas

Sarah is the head of the Edinburgh clinical negligence team. She represents clients from all over Scotland in a wide variety of clinical negligence claims, including birth injuries, surgical errors, nursing errors, dental negligence, misdiagnosis and delayed diagnosis/treatment.

Sarah specialises in high value and complex claims. She has particular expertise in amputation claims and birth injury claims, including those involving neonatal death. She is a confident litigator and has appeared in Sheriff Courts across Scotland.

Career

Sarah undertook her traineeship with a leading commercial firm before moving to a specialist insurance litigation firm, where she undertook both clinical negligence and personal injury work. Since joining Slater and Gordon in 2017 Sarah has focused on her clinical negligence practice and acts exclusively on behalf of pursuers.
