Rita is a partner in the EU and Competition Law practice. With over 20 years’ professional experience, she has focused on advising public and private clients on Portuguese and European competition law matters. These matters include State aid, cartels and other restrictive practices, merger control and compliance programmes.
With particular expertise in the financial, aviation, distribution, energy and waste management sectors, Rita represents clients before the Portuguese Competition Authority, the European Commission and Portuguese and European courts.
Before joining PLMJ, Rita was a managing associate at the law firm VdA and worked in the restrictive practices department of the Portuguese Competition Authority.
Rita has an specialized LL.M. in competition law from King's College London and completed postgraduate courses including in economics for competition law also at from King's College London, and in competition law and regulation and consumer law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.
