Richard Lord KC

Richard Lord has an outstanding reputation and wealth of experience, both as adviser and advocate in commercial litigation and arbitration, with a particular specialisation in dry shipping and shipbuilding, insurance and reinsurance, commodities, and energy claims.

In recent years he has increasingly sat as an arbitrator and acted as a mediator in these same areas.

Richard has also developed expertise in climate change related litigation and international environment and human rights litigation generally.

His publications include books on Bills of Lading, the Arbitration Act 1996 and Climate Change liability.

Recent experiences include environmental claims on behalf of impoverished communities in Colombia and Brazil, defending a damages claim by an oil major against an environmental charity arising from a protest, and acting in commercial arbitrations relating to claims under bills of lading for misdelivery, and claims under a long terms COA for carriage of fish.
