Practice Areas
Mr. Azpúrua is a founding partner of WDA Legal, S.C. His broad corporate practice covers a wide range of Venezuelan and non-Venezuelan-based transactional matters in a variety of areas including technology, franchising, maritime, pharmaceuticals, and oil and gas.
Mr. Azpúrua focuses his practice in several areas: Corporate/M&A, Corporate Compliance & Ethics, Commercial Transactions, Arbitration & Dispute Resolution and Labour & Employment. He has a strong track record providing advice on software licensing and development agreements, asset-based financing, project finance, maritime and environmental permitting, franchising, distribution agreements and technology transfers. His experience also includes corporate formation, investment protection, venture financing, mergers and acquisitions, advice on government controls, compliance, internal corporate investigations and general commercial contracting.
In addition to frequently representing parties in domestic commercial arbitrations, Mr. Azpúrua is an arbitrator in Venezuela’s two main arbitration centers. He has also represented clients in international investment arbitrations administered by the ICSID and the PCA.
Mr. Azpúrua is currently a part-time professor on Business Associations in the Corporate Law graduate program offered by Universidad Metropolitana.
