Maurizio Levi-Minzi is an M&A partner and Co-Head of the firm’s Latin America Group. He has more than 30 years of experience advising private equity groups and strategic investors in complex joint ventures and cross-border acquisitions across key industries, such as energy and natural resources, technology, mining, infrastructure, telecommunications and consumer products. Mr. Levi-Minzi has led transactions in Latin America, the United States, Europe and Asia for Barrick, Brookfield, BTG Pactual, Carlyle, Clessidra, CPPIB, CSN, GP Investments, H.I.G. Capital Management, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and Mitsui.
He is ranked as a leading lawyer for mergers and acquisitions in Latin America by Chambers Latin America (2023), Chambers Brazil (2022), Chambers Global (2022), Latin Lawyer 250 (2022) and The Legal 500 Latin America (2022). Mr. Levi-Minzi is an adjunct professor at New York University where he teaches a popular cross-border M&A course, and earlier this year he co-taught as a visiting professor at the University of São Paulo (USP).
Mr. Levi-Minzi’s most recent publications include co-authoring the preface to Fusões e Aquisições: Pareceres (Mergers and Acquisitions: Legal Opinions), a collection of legal opinions rendered by renowned jurists in the context of M&A disputes in Brazil (June 2022); and co-authoring the article “Private Equity Funds and Institutional Investors in M&A” for the first edition of Latin Lawyer’s Guide to Mergers and Acquisitions (February 2021).
He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, holds an M.B.A. in Finance from Golden Gate University and a B.A. in Italian Literature and Philosophy from the University of Trieste (Italy). Mr. Levi-Minzi is fluent in Italian and Spanish and is proficient in Portuguese. Prior to joining the firm, he was a banker with NMB Bank (ING Bank) in New York.
