Career
Maureen McBride is a partner and co-chair of Lamb McErlane’s Appellate Department and a member of the Litigation Department and the Firm’s Executive Committee. Maureen concentrates her practice on appellate law and commercial litigation in state and federal courts. She provides counseling and advice to a wide array of corporate clients and individuals.
In addition to her appellate practice, Maureen serves in several leadership roles within the appellate legal community. In 2024, Maureen was appointed Chair of the Chester County Court of Common Pleas Local Rules Committee. In 2023, she was appointed by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania as Chair of the Civil Procedural Rules Committee, and she is currently Co-Chair for the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Appellate Advocacy Committee. In 2011 she was appointed to serve on the PA Supreme Court’s Committee on Rules of Evidence where she served as Chair from 2016-2018. Maureen also served a six year term as a Hearing Committee member serving the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. Previously, Maureen served as Vice-Chair and Treasurer for the Pennsylvania Lawyer’s Fund for Client Security and was a member of the Merit Selection Panel to recommend candidates for United States Magistrate Judge. Maureen is also an active member of the Inn of Court of Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law.
She is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Appellate Advocacy Committee and frequently shares her experience with her fellow attorneys through the Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s continuing Legal Education courses. Maureen has presented on appellate issues to the Pennsylvania State Trial Judges’ Association conference.

Work Highlights
In decisive victory for a client and for mental health providers across Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in Wunderly v. St. Luke’s Hospital upheld the hospital’s immunity under the Mental Health Procedures Act (MHPA).
Successfully represented a physician practice group and physician in convincing Pennsylvania Supreme Court to reverse the Superior Court and dismiss claims on Statue of Limitations grounds
Achieved a positive result for a college in a Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in a Title IX appeal.
Successfully defended a physician, practice group and health system in the Superior Court of Pennsylvania in the reversal of a $40 million jury verdict in a medical malpractice/birth injury case.
Obtained a favorable outcome in the reduction of a $20 million judgment by more than $10 million in a medical malpractice case.
