Markus has over 25 years' experience advising on complex antitrust and regulatory issues. He has been deeply involved in transactional and enforcement matters in the EU and many other jurisdictions.
Markus’ experience includes advising and representing clients in significant merger control cases, compliance programmes and complex cartel investigations, strategic alliances and other commercial arrangements (such as distribution, R&D and technology licensing), issues related to abuse of dominance and EU state aid rules. In addition, he has secured merger antitrust clearance from more than 30 national competition authorities within and outside of the European Union.
He provides practical, results-driven advice and represents clients before the European and national courts, the European Commission and national competition authorities.
Joined Van Bael & Bellis in 1993, became a Partner in 2001.
