Marcelo Ribeiro has been engaged in the legal profession for 38 years, since graduating from the University of Brasilia - UnB in 1985. His practice extends to the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), where he has been actively involved since its establishment in 1989. In addition, he handles cases before the Supreme Court (STF), Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Regional Federal Court of the 1st Region (TRF), and the Court of Justice of the Federal District (TJDFT).

From 1987 to 1992, he held the esteemed position of Attorney for the National Treasury. In 1992, he assumed the role of Attorney for the Federal District, achieving the highest score in a rigorous selection process based on exams and qualifications.

Furthermore, he served as a council member of the Brazilian Bar Association from 1992 to 2010, where he held the chairmanship of various committees, including the notable National Commission for Constitutional Studies, while also being an esteemed member of several others.

From 2004 to 2012, Marcelo Ribeiro served as a Justice of the Superior Electoral Court (Tribunal Superior Eleitoral – TSE).
