Lucia is passionate about resolving family and child disputes in the best way possible for each individual, whether through negotiation, mediation or litigation. Her practice covers financial disputes arising from separation, matters relating to children including relocation, cohabitation, pre-nuptial agreements and adults with incapacity. She has particular expertise in disputes relating to farms and landed estates, as well as international cases, including cross-border between Scotland and England. She is dual-qualified in Scots and English law.

Career

Lucia has considerable expertise in international divorce cases. She advises on matters of jurisdiction and has acted for clients based in the U.S, Asia, Middle East and Australia, including ex-pats.

She is dual-qualified in Scots and English law, and so frequently advises on UK cross-border issues also. She regularly advises upon preparation of pre-nuptial agreements, whether just in Scotland or involving England or other countries.

Lucia also has considerable experience and interest in the niche area of farming divorce, and can advise farmers, landed estate owners, or spouses on the particular issues faced by them on relationship breakdown. She has recently written 'A Practical Guide to Divorce and Farming in Scotland' which was published in early 2022.

As an accredited mediator with the Law Society of Scotland and a member of CALM Scotland, she can mediate family and child disputes, or support individual clients going through mediation. As well as acting for clients in Scottish cases, Lucia represents clients in cases relating to divorce and finance proceedings under English law or in the English courts.

Professional Memberships

Lucia is a member of the Family Law Association in Scotland, and Resolution in England, where she serves on the Resolution International Committee.

She is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a family law specialist and family law mediator, and is a member of CALM (Comprehensive Accredited Lawyer Mediators)She has been appointed a fellow of the prestigious International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL) - a worldwide association of practising lawyers who are recognised by their peers as the most experienced and skilled family law specialists in their respective countries.
