Career
Katia is the founding partner of the firm and has vast experience in the corporate area, with an emphasis on foreign investment, tourism, project financing, real estate transactions, and business planning for national and international companies in the Dominican Republic, among others.
Her professional experience includes the legal direction of one of the main tourist projects in the country; she has also worked in local firms where she has excelled in the areas of commercial law, foreign investment, tourism, and real estate.
She graduated magna cum laude, from law school at Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), Santo Domingo in 1989 and obtained a Postgraduate Degree in International Law and Organization for Development from the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, The Netherlands, (1994). She attended the Environment and Sustainable Development during the Structural Reforms Program, at The University of West Indies, Kingston, Jamaica (1995); the Harvard Law School’s Negotiation Program for lawyers in 1998, and; the “Project Financing: Building Infrastructure Projects in Developing Markets” program at the Practicing Law Institute, New York, NY, USA (2001).
