Karen is a specialist in planning for mixed use development - I promote retail, housing, office, hotel and leisure uses and general industrial development. I have broad based planning and property experience especially in the management of development schemes for numerous private and public sector clients and working with key stakeholders. I have experience in resolving complex planning issues in the UK and advise on all aspects of town and country planning; handling the promotion of large mixed-use schemes and DCO/CPO matters. I have also acted for objectors to a number of CPOs including for example the Olympics and Emirates Stadium developments.
I advise regularly on property acquisitions (including shopping centre acquisitions and strategic housing portfolios), Development Agreements (including collaboration/JV agreements, Options and NDAs), usually for large regeneration schemes.
Have promoted a number of CPOs for large retail town centre schemes and drafted a Development Consent Order for a gas pipeline and acted on other huge infrastructure projects: such as motorway toll roads and motorway schemes. I also have listed building and heritage experience (including planning enforcement and prosecutions) and have dealt with licensing matters. Experienced in drafting and negotiating complex planning and infrastructure agreements with developers, landowners and stakeholders.
