Career

Founder Partner of Comercia Consulting. Mr de la Puente has successfully defended some of the most relevant trade remedy cases investigated in Peru from 2009 to date. He has also advised clients in similar cases before authorities in Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador and Panama. During this period, Mr de la Puente has also worked as an international consultant for various organizations, including the European Union (projects carried out by GOPA and WTI Advisors), IADB, UNCTAD, CAF and SECO, developing studies on commercial policy implementation of FTAs, among other. In addition, since 2017, Mr de la Puente has served as a panelist (arbitrator) in three trade disputes at the WTO.

Before founding Comercia Consulting, Mr de la Puente was a Senior Associate and Head of the Competition Area at Muñiz Law Firm, where he advised clients on trade and antitrust matters (2002-2008). From 1995-2000, he served as Advisor to the Vice Minister of Integration and International Trade Negotiations (currently MINCETUR), representing Peru in international trade negotiations at bilateral, regional, hemispheric and, multilateral levels. From 1998 to 2000, Mr. de la Puente served as Commissioner of the Antidumping and Subsidy Commission of INDECOPI.

His practice covers several aspects of international trade and WTO law including trade remedy procedures (antidumping, subsidies and safeguards), antitrust litigation and consultancy, defense against tariff and non-tariff barriers at the bilateral and regional level, consultancy in WTO law and international trade treaties, among other. In antitrust matters, he has represented leading companies in price fixing and abuse of dominance cases in different industries (including sea shipping and pharmacy retail).
