Joel is Of Counsel in our Japan Competition, Regulatory and Trade practice, where he principally advises Japanese clients on the merger control and competition compliance aspects of their transactions overseas.
Joel has broad experience in various areas of cross-border competition and regulatory law. Having worked on three continents, Joel has experience advising global and Japanese clients on multi-jurisdictional merger control aspects of their transactions, as well as antitrust investigations by the European Commission and other regulators, in particular in the energy and resources, manufacturing and industrial, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods and media sectors.
Joel is a graduate of the University of Tokyo and is a fluent Japanese speaker. He is admitted to practice in New South Wales, Australia, and in England & Wales, and is licensed to advise in Japan as a Registered Foreign Lawyer (Gaikokuho Jimu Bengoshi).
