Practice Areas
HEALTH AND SAFETY - Jenny is the partner who heads up our Health & Safety team. She has particular expertise in handling Fatal Accident Inquiries (FAI), having acted in some of the most high profile FAIs in Scotland.
Jenny is known for having been the principal solicitor advising the Air Accident Investigation Branch in the Clutha Bar and Sumburgh FAIs. These were both hugely complex and important inquiries, the two helicopter accidents having taken the lives of 14 people between them. We continue to use this experience, for example, in current fatal cases involving deaths in custody and live ammunition accidents.
Jenny acts for companies who require health and safety advice on their operations, as well as acting for the regulator - the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). For the HSE, Jenny and her team conduct Notice appeals. These are the purest form of health and safety work. The HSE serve Notices under health and safety legislation.
PERSONAL INJURY - MAINLY DEFENDANT
Jenny Dickson is the Head of our Department and is instrumental in our successes at retaining clients in this area. Jenny is particularly well known for her work on industrial disease cases. She is an active member of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers (the premier industry group in this area), sitting on their Disease Sector Focus Team. She manages the defence of hundreds of asbestos-related disease claims at any one time - for clients such as the Ministry of Defence and Royal Mail.
Career
A partner in our Litigation division, Jenny specialises in personal injury and professional negligence.
Jenny is chair of Morton Fraser MacRoberts and has set out to put in to place a vision for a more inclusive industry.
Jenny is an advocate for social inclusion within the Scottish legal sector, starting with Morton Fraser MacRoberts. She is particularly impassioned about breaking down barriers to social mobility, and the financial and social barriers to gaining a legal education.
Her own legal practice is in personal injury, health and safety and inquiry work. She has been defending employers’ liability, public liability and motor claims on behalf of a wide range of clients since 2000. During this time, she has acted for insurers, various self-insured companies, and local and central government bodies. Jenny’s diverse case work ranges from high value catastrophic injury claims to medical negligence. She also represents clients at inquiries.
Jenny is qualified as a solicitor advocate, which enables her to provide clients with a consistent approach to advice and representation in court and gain the benefits of an accessible, streamlined service.
