Career
Jason's expertise extends to complex corporate criminal matters such as Intra-Community Carousel fraud, Serious Fraud Office Prosecution and defending commercial business crime cases, Financial Service Regulation and corruption cases.
He specialises in white-collar commercial fraud cases, with over 28 years’ experience of dealing with government departments including: the SFO, BIS (formerly DTI), HMRC and Department of Work and Pensions. He is on the SFO Prosecution King’s Counsel list and has also been instructed a grade 4 specialist CPS prosecutor with specialisms in fraud, murder, and serious sexual offences including rape.
High profile cases have included Vincent Tchenguiz in the aborted SFO investigation and a separate commercial fraud matter. He also acted for Sir Frederick Barclay and his daughter Amanda with Brown Rudnick and 3 VB in the covert bugging case concerning the Ritz Hotel in 2020, successfully settled that same year. He has also been instructed by corporates in complex fraud, breach of privacy and Data Protection cases. He was instructed by Dentons Milan and London as a banking regulatory expert in the bribery and corruption case against ENI/Shell that was prosecuted in Milan, Italy. In 2019, instructed by Blackfords LLP, he was instructed to defend a former M.D. of one of the UK’s largest pharmaceutical brokerages concerning a complex data protection case.
Jason is a governing Bencher of the Inner Temple and a visiting Fellow to the University of Durham Law School.
