Career

Jane founded JE Bennett Law in 2012 and is the Managing Partner with responsibility for around 200 deputyships. She has 24 years' experience as a private client lawyer, the last 20 of which spent specialising in vulnerable client and Court of Protection law.

Jane is a deputy of choice in complex, disputed and/or high value deputyship matters including power of attorney disputes and health and welfare, financial and deprivation of liberty matters, and is instructed by a variety of private clients including lay deputies, and specialist brain injury case managers. Jane receives referrals for brain injury cases from defendant and claimant and via leading COP IFA specialists.

Jane continues to be a “go to” expert witness for the defence in catastrophic personal injury litigation claims with referrals received via KC’s; leading national insurers and leading defendant lawyers. She also handles a growing number of claimant expert witness cases in catastrophic brain injury claims and acts as a professional litigation friend.

Jane is one of only 6 Court of Protection lawyers in the 2024 Legal 500 Hall of Fame.
