James Peterson

James has a strong following for his work in the field of company commercial law and is particularly sought after for business sales and purchases (both as assets and through shares),these include a high volume of management buyouts, together with venture capital and private equity deals.

James regularly provides commercial and legal advice to shareholders, directors, partnerships and sole traders, including in relation to commercial agreements, franchise agreements, joint ventures, corporate reconstructions and succession planning. James is developing a specialism in intellectual property and is able to offer advice on intellectual property law and related business matters, assignments and licenses of intellectual property and trademark applications for registration within the UK.

James heads up a company commercial team that is fast becoming one of the leading teams in this practice area in the South West, with local and regional accountants referring their clients to James and trusting him and his team to meet their clients' objectives in the most commercial and cost-effective way.

James joined GA in 2006, qualified in 2009 and became a partner in 2018. He became an equity partner in 2021.
