Dr. Hamish Lal represents clients in a range of high-value, highly technical, international construction and engineering disputes and international arbitrations. He acts under many applicable laws (common law and civil codes) including UAE, Iraq, Nigeria, Kazakhstan/Uzbekistan, Denmark and English Law. Hamish has acted under the rules of the International Court of Arbitration, LCIA, DIAC, DIFC-LCIA, SCC and SIAC, as well as in contractual mediations, expert determinations, statutory adjudications and ad hoc arbitrations under the UNCITRAL Rules. Hamish is frequently called on to address prospective and retrospective delay analysis, disruption, cumulative impact claims, FEED errors, non-conformance reports, design codes, pipeline weld defects, bad-weather windows, vessel-standby, unforeseen ground conditions, professional negligence, taking over/completion, liquidated damages, incentive payments, variations, bond calls and termination / determination under various forms of contract under FIDIC, CRINE/LOGIC and NEC3/4. Hamish is the Author, ‘Manual of Construction Agreements’ published by LexisNexis and General Editor of Construction Law Journal published by Sweet & Maxwell.
