Doug acts as lead counsel in complex cases, advises clients on challenging issues and plays key roles in crisis management to avoid or settle disputes. His unique skills have earned him the respect of all levels of court before which he has appeared.
He has acted for the former Chief Justice of Québec and Inquiry Committees of the Canadian Judicial Council and has argued numerous cases before the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also been appointed as amicus curiae in both the Québec Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. Doug’s clients include large and small companies, individuals, and public institutions. His areas of expertise span civil and commercial litigation as well as constitutional and administrative law. He also regularly acts as an arbitrator in a wide range of cases. Doug’s strategic insights and overall practical advice are often sought out by other law firms, whether in conflict of interest matters or other difficult situations.
