LICENSING: David has a long pedigree of licensing experience, having worked in this area since qualifying in 1988. He has appeared before Licensing Boards throughout the country and dealt with licensing appeals for applicants. In addition to dealing with applications and Licensing Board hearings, David advises clients on licensing policy issues and has advised English legal firms on Scottish Licensing issues. David also provides support to our corporate and commercial teams on purchases/leases and business acquisitions.

EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS: Highly experienced employment lawyer and mediator with a very broad understanding of the education sector including acting SRUC a single higher education and research institution specialising in agriculture.

MEDIATORS: David trained as a mediator in 2003-2004 and has acted in well over 100 mediations since then in a wide variety of areas. In addition to acting as a mediator, he provides advice on mediations throughout the firm, represents clients at mediations and provides training for Morton Fraser staff and clients on mediation.

EMPLOYMENT: David has advised on employment law issues for over 32 years, advising a variety of employer clients, as well as senior executives on all aspects of employment law.

Career

David is a highly experienced partner within our Litigation division based in Edinburgh. He is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in employment law and commercial mediation. He supports a varied practice including employment, licensing law, immigration, litigation and mediation.

He has particular experience in the Educational sector and is considered the trusted advisor to many educational institutions.

David also leads our acclaimed Licensing team. Acting in this capacity, he provides a bespoke service for clients ranging from small businesses to leading multinationals, and regularly appears before Licensing Boards.

David is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Specialist in both Employment Law and Commercial Mediation.

He is a member of Scottish Mediation and on the Scottish Mediation Register.
