Arno Voerman

Arno has been a partner at BarentsKrans since October 2024 and a lawyer since 1997. He is part of the Banking & Finance practice group and specialises in FinTech & Payments. With his expertise in financial law, he focuses mainly on strategic projects, such as market entry, product launches, partnerships, investments and acquisitions in the financial sector. For instance, Arno has extensive experience in applying for licences from the Dutch Central Bank (DNB) and the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM).

In recent years, he has successfully overseen more than ten licence applications for payment and electronic money institutions. He also regularly assists in applying to DNB for declarations of no-objection for stakes in financial companies and advises foreign companies that are looking to introduce a financial product or financial service to the Dutch market.

Arno is always abreast of new regulations and is able to translate them into the impact they will have and any opportunities they may bring. In this regard, his advice mainly pertains to the Dutch Financial Supervision Act (Wft), the Dutch Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act (Wwft), the Dutch Sanctions Act 1997, PSD2 (and PSR and PSD3), EMD2, MiCAR, AML directives, the AMLR and DORA.

His in-depth knowledge of and passion for his field have resulted in several publications in the area of FinTech & Payments. He published a book on PSD2, is a regular annotator for case law journal JOR and regularly contributes articles to financial law journal Tijdschrift voor Financieel Recht.
