Antony has specialised in intellectual property work for over 20 years. His primary areas of focus are the provision of design, branding and advertising & promotions advice in the retail and consumer sectors and contentious patent work. Antony also leads HGF’s retail practice firm-wide.
As a contentious IP lawyer, Antony has handled many major reported cases including Fields v Klaus Kobec Limited, Julius Saaman and others v Tetrosyl Limited and Specsavers v Asda, this last case being one of the leading cases in the field of trade mark infringement and passing off. He also acted for Zipher in the various Zipher v Markem proceedings, which are well known cases in the field of patent entitlement and the amendment of patent claims.
Antony has a longstanding reputation in internet-related work and is one of the experts appointed by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (“WIPO”) for determining domain name disputes. Antony is also an expert appointed by the Czech Arbitration Court in relation to .eu domain names and for many years was an expert appointed by Nominet in relation to .uk domain name disputes. He has given over 110 decisions for WIPO to date.
