Career

After 37 years litigating in the field of IP, the last 25 years as Partner at ELZABURU SLP, Antonio has had to retire from the legal profession due to an irreversible problem affecting his sight. Our Firm decided to name him an “Honorary Partner”, in recognition of his outstanding career, so that he can maintain a symbolic link to our Firm, to clients and to his professional colleagues.

His professional career, which has always focused on IP litigation, has been marked by success. Antonio has defended in court such endearing characters as Tarzan, Lex Luthor or The Simpsons, and also authors such as Chesterton or celebrities such as Zinedine Zidane. He obtained for JACK DANIEL’S the first ruling from the Spanish Supreme Court on Community exhaustion of trademark rights in a case of parallel imports, and he secured the legal position in Spain of the US beer brand BUDWEISER in the well-known international dispute with the Czech company. In a pharmaceutical patent infringement case handled on behalf of a French company, the preliminary proceedings and court action undertaken led to an $8 million damages award.
