Alex is a partner at Perez Bryan Procope LLP (PBP Lawyers), advising on health law, estate advocacy and civil rights. Alex’s practice is focused in guardianship, power of attorney and estate disputes.
Alex is frequently appointed as counsel for allegedly incapable persons in high-conflict capacity-related matters.
Alex was called to the Ontario Bar in 2007. Alex prides himself in providing clients with the knowledge and guidance to avoid the court system where possible. Clients include guardians and attorneys for property and personal care in need of assistance with their duties and how to respond to third parties.
Alex frequently presents at professional development programs and is Co-Director of the OsgoodePD Certificate of Elder Law Program. He also co-teaches Mental Health Law at the University of Windsor Faculty of Law.
Alex has been a long-time active member of the Ontario Bar Association (OBA). In 2022, Alex was awarded the Hoffstein Book Prize by the OBA for his contributions and achievements in the area of wills, trusts and estates.
As a member of the Mental Health Legal Committee, he has prepared submissions respecting policy and law reform on capacity, guardianship and substitute-decision making.
