Practice Areas
With over 25 years of experience, and qualified to practice in both Canada’s civil law and common law jurisdictions, Aldona acts as senior counsel and an advocate in respect of workplace law. She provides practical and effective representation to large private and publicly listed companies in a wide range of industries. She has extensive experience advising employers on matters of significant legal and reputational importance. This includes advising on workplace compliance matters in both the union and non-union context (including those relating to labour matters, employment standards, occupational health and safety, data privacy, language in the workplace, pay equity, harassment, accommodation, and human rights) and handling strategic employment issues for employers (including C-suite onboarding, compensation, retention and separation). A significant part of her practise is devoted to providing strategic specialty advice about the employment law and labour aspects of complex corporate transactions, including negotiating and drafting of purchase agreements, retention and other employee-related transition agreements. She also counsels on the practical and legal human resources issues arising with post-acquisition workplace integrations. Finally, as an advocate she represents employers involved in employment-related disputes and litigation before the courts, administrative tribunals and labour arbitration venues. Aldona has practiced in Quebec’s civil law jurisdiction since 2007 and, prior to that, practiced in British Columbia.
