Sofia Galvão Advogados (SGA) is a boutique law firm, founded in 2014, which dedicates to the Territory, focused on supporting the implementation and development of economic activities on land and at sea.
SGA has its distinctive feature in the integrated approach of real estate and planning, and has been able to establish itself as a recognized go-to Firm (namely in major real estate transactions and planning instructions), filling what was a gap in Portuguese legal services panorama: a Partner based boutique Law Firm, with very solid (and acknowledged) real estate and planning expertise, that is able to present an integrated view of deals, whether they are of a “classic” real estate model (e.g., assets with a running cash flow or a sale and leaseback transaction) or require a prospective, strategy-oriented approach (e.g., development deals or urban renewal deals).

■Legal assistance and representation of Auchan Portugal Hipermercados, in the construction of a major shopping mall in Cascais, in a project that foresees, also, prime location, ocean view, residential units
■Assistance to Prowinko with the refurbishment of several prime location assets for installation of flagship stores of main international clothing brands
■Legal representation of Administração do Porto de Lisboa, in a judicial dispute over the ownership of a prime location plot in Lisbon
■Resolution of a hold-out situation in an urban development project in Sintra, on behalf of Universidade Católica Portuguesa

Planning:
■Providing Novo Banco Group and its new shareholders and management team, with precise and up-to-date information on 30 important assets acquired last year by Lone Star Funds, to identify red-flag contingencies and suggest a strategy and step plan for asset value consolidation or increase
■Assistance to Novo Banco/Hudson Advisors with the implementation of Amoreiras Artilharia Um Project, to enable a restructuring of the project according to Client’s high standards and needs, and by assisting in the Architectural Competition, with the participation of several highly ranked architects
■Advice to the Lisbon Municipality regarding the setting up of the most important public urban development project in Lisboa: based on the firm’s legal opinion, Entrecampos project has been redesigned and also approved, after public consultation
■Advice to Metropolitano de Lisboa (Lisbon Subway Corp) regarding the setting up of an ambitious urban development project in Lisbon for the new residential and office area of Sete Rios, within a specific public procedure framework based on our legal opinion
■Advice to Ferrado Immuebles, concerning the acquisition and development of three macro-plots, in Troia, for the installation of a world-class, luxury hotel and villas, having conducted DD and led all transactional work
■Assistance to ECS on several major development projects across the country defining and implementing strategies and legal paths for asset value management (e.g., Lisboa, Cascais, Sintra, Santarém, Algarve)
