Shipping
Schjødt London's first-class shipping team acts for the full range of shipping clients, including owners, charterers, operators, P&I Clubs, marine underwriters, brokers, shipyards and banks. They advise on a wide variety of problems and challenges clients face, including all aspects of ‘wet’ and ‘dry’ shipping, as well as broader commercial issues, including under pool agreements, joint venture agreements and shareholder agreements. The London team handles the full spectrum of disputes, from low-value claims to high-value, multi-jurisdictional, complex disputes, in both arbitration and the High Court – including having taken several cases to the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
Key partner contacts in Shipping include Christian Dwyer, Jeremy Biggs (both Ranked Lawyers in Chambers & Partners), and Jonas Adolfsson.
Commodities
Schjødt's commodities team acts for a wide range of multinational energy companies, oil and gas traders, metal traders, soft commodity trading houses, trade finance banks, and mining companies. Their specialist lawyers have many years of experience in advising on issues arising under international trade contracts and in handling disputes arising in arbitration and the High Court in the UK and abroad.
Key partner is Carl Walker.
Oil & Gas / Renewables
The Schjødt London specialist offshore team has experience advising clients on some of the largest and most complex offshore projects undertaken worldwide, including oil and gas, subsea cabling and offshore renewables. The cycle of these projects extends through the initial design and engineering, onshore construction in ship and fabrication yards, offshore installation, testing and commissioning, operation and redeployment through the asset's life into decommissioning. The value of the development routinely exceeds US$1 billion, and integrating the contract chain through construction and operation with the requirements of lenders and investors is one of the key challenges.
The key partner is David Gardner, head of the London Office.
Finance
Schjødt London boasts a first-class finance team that advises on a wide range of banking and finance matters, specialising in structured asset-backed and project financings in the shipping, oil and gas/commodities, and renewable sectors.
Key partners are Gervais Green and Alice Thomas.
Corporate
The corporate finance team advises clients active across all major industry sectors, including shipping, offshore energy, renewables, financial institutions, oil & gas, mining and technology, on all aspects of UK domestic and international corporate transactions. The team acts as lead advisor to all relevant transaction parties on domestic and cross-border, multijurisdictional corporate, commercial and M&A transactions in both emerging and developed markets. Whether acting on English law-governed matters or operating as international counsel, the team has extensive experience in leading and coordinating transactions of all sizes and complexity alongside other Schjodt expert teams, practice areas and offices or third-party advisors in additional jurisdictions.
The key contact is Stephen Woods.
