Firm Overview

Parry Law is a litigation boutique based in the heart of North Carolina's Research Triangle. The firm prides itself on high-quality, cost-effective handling of complex and high-stakes disputes in federal courts, state courts, arbitration proceedings, and administrative proceedings across North Carolina, including significant experience in the North Carolina Business Court. The firm's lawyers bring expertise from some of the largest law firms in the region and the country.

Main Areas of Practice

Parry Law represents individual and business clients in a variety of practice areas, including:

  • Corporate, LLC, and Partnership Disputes : When serious disagreements arise between and among the owners of businesses, the parties need counsel skilled and experienced in resolving complicated intra-corporate disputes. Parry Law has significant experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in these types of cases, including (i) direct and derivative claims against directors, officers, and managers for alleged breaches of fiduciary duties and other misconduct; (ii) claims by minority owners for alleged breaches of fiduciary duties by controlling majority owners; and (iii) claims by directors, officers, and managers to enforce their rights to indemnification from the company.

  • Contract Disputes and Business Torts : When a commercial relationship is memorialized by a contract, disputes can arise regarding whether one or both parties lived up to their promises. When these relationships sour, there can be extra-contractual claims as well, including claims for unfair or deceptive trade practices, or even fraud. Parry Law has significant experience handling disputes in a variety of industries involving claimed breaches of duties in the context of a frayed commercial relationship.

  • Insurance Recovery: The firm represents policyholders who are seeking to recover insurance proceeds due to them under a wide variety of individual and business policies, including D&O, EPL, CGL, E&O, and property insurance policies. When an insurance carrier acts in bad faith or engages in unfair claims handling practices, the firm also has significant experience litigating claims for damages beyond the policy limits. The firm also advises clients outside of litigation about insurance coverage questions.

  • Non-Compete and Trade Secret Disputes: When an executive or other key employee leaves a company, disputes often arise regarding restrictions in that person's employment agreement, including covenants not to compete, provisions prohibiting the solicitation of employees or customers, and restrictions on the use or disclosure of confidential and proprietary information. Many of these cases involve claims of misappropriation of company trade secrets. Parry Law represents individuals and companies in the resolution of these complicated and sensitive cases, including seeking and defending emergency injunctive relief. The firm also regularly advises clients about the enforceability of restrictive covenants in employment agreements before a dispute arises.

  • Financial Services: Parry Law represents investors and financial professionals in investment disputes, whether in state court, federal court, or FINRA arbitration proceedings. These claims can involve allegations of fraud, excessive or unauthorized trading, and/or professional malpractice. The firm also represents financial professional clients in regulatory enforcement actions and other commercial disputes and financial institution customers with respect to lending, deposit, and payment disputes.

  • Construction Law: The firm's lawyers routinely handle complex construction disputes in courts, arbitration proceedings, and administrative proceedings. Parry Law represents owners, developers, contractors, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and sureties, both in resolving disputes and in providing advice and counsel to assist in navigating contracts and projects.

  • Information Privacy and Cybersecurity: Parry Law assists clients in responding to data breaches and defending any associated litigation, as well as counseling clients to help avoid litigation by building cost-effective and powerful privacy and security programs. Services in this area include advice on the legal requirements of privacy laws, development of compliant programs, vendor management, and incident response and notification. This practice area is led by a lawyer with Certified Information Privacy Professional Credentials from the IAPP.

  • Health Care Litigation: The firm represents physicians, hospitals, and other health care providers in civil and administrative proceedings and investigations, including not only resolution of pre-litigation claims and lawsuits, but also risk management review and training to assist health care industry clients in avoiding costly disputes before they occur.

  • White-Collar and Other Criminal Defense and Investigations: The firm regularly represents individuals under investigation or accused of state and federal criminal charges, including complex financial matters involving allegations of bank fraud, wire fraud, health care fraud, securities fraud, money laundering, and tax evasion.
