OVVADIAS S. NAMIAS – LAW FIRM was established in 2006 and is a boutique law firm that specializes in criminal law and, in particular, in financial criminal law, providing legal services to natural persons and legal entities both at a litigation and at a consulting level.

The company offers to domestic and foreign legal entities (Banking companies, Stock-exchange companies, Telecommunications companies etc.) its wide knowledge and experience on issues concerning corporate penal liability and compliance with the provisions of Penal Law, while it has established and maintains co-operation with major civil law firms in matters of penal concern. The practice areas of the Firm are, among others, money laundering, corruption, bribery, breach of trust, fraud, embezzlement, internal corporation investigations, corporate penal law, medical penal law, control and monitoring of regulatory compliance, banking offences, stock exchange offences, European and international penal law, extradition and mutual assistance, penal environmental law. The Firm is also experienced in conducting internal investigations, especially, in banks, NGOs and other corporations and in drafting the internal corporate compliance rules.

The Firm’s practice is led by Ovvadias Namias, Managing Partner who has graduated from the Law School of the University of Athens in 1987 and concluded his thesis in Penal Law at the University of Bonn in Germany, with a grant from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (1992).

The Firm is staffed by excellent Partners and Senior Associates with strong academic background, as Vassileios Petropoulos, who is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure at the University of Athens and Ilias Spyropoulos who graduated from the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, from which he also obtained his LLM in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure and he then received his Ph.D. in Criminal Law from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich in the field of medical negligence.

Among the most important cases handled by our Firm is the representation of a former employee of pharmaceutical company on fraud and money laundering against the Greek State, conducting an internal investigation on behalf of another company against a former employee for the allegations of embezzlement and money laundering, representation of a railway company for a train accident, representation of an investor on a cross-border fraud case relating to a dispute between an investor and a Swiss bank as well as several cases related to medical negligence and medical malpractice.
