About
Firm Overview:
HVK Stevens is a specialist boutique firm, employing over 80 practitioners in Tax, Legal and Consultancy.
The Firm's Approach:
HVK Stevens focuses on advising private wealth including entrepreneurs, corporations, private equity funds, charities, families, family-run businesses. The firm takes an integrated approach: the specialists at HVK Stevens work together in multidisciplinary teams to provide a customised solution. Building a personal relationship with its clients is paramount in this approach.
Explaining complex matters in a simple way is an art that the firm understands. With HVK Stevens, clients will not get long, theoretical explanations, but a concrete solution to their problem in clear language.
The Firm's Reputation:
HVK Stevens each year solves many complex disputes and has become the firm to go to for the successful negotiation of settlements with the Tax Authorities in the Netherlands, and internationally as well.
The firm is known for reducing issues such as asset structuring, mergers and acquisitions, governance, donations and charitable organisations (public benefit organisations, PBOs) to clear, understandable solutions that you can use immediately. Based on the firm's reputation with the specialist teams within the Tax Authorities, HVK Stevens is accepted as a trusted counterparty in the negotiations that deal with conflict matters as its representations are known for the highest level of integrity.
Tax - Dispute Resolution, Complex Negotiations with Tax Authorities:
HVK Stevens assists and advises both wealthy private and corporate clients that have intense, often already escalated, disputes with the Tax Authorities.
Because of the escalated level, the existing team of advisors probably is not the right team to de-escalate the discussions and look for an amicable settlement between the client and the Tax Authorities. That is often when clients come to HVK Stevens.
An amicable approach is always preferred in our view as further escalation risks prosecution, with all the ensuing reputational and commercial damage to the business, its owners and their families. Not to mention the mushrooming of legal costs when conflicts end up in criminal prosecution and procedures.
