Energy & Infrastructure:
The department is composed of partners and associates who have handled more than 200 MWs projects in Uruguay, and have negotiated and drafted 3Ps and PPAs Agreements. Clients include companies leading in infrastructure and technology. Partners are requested to advice national and international companies and their opinions are regularly present on Uruguayan and international press.
The real estate practice has the largest department of its kind in the market, with a vast team of bilingual conveyance attorneys, who assist businesses and individuals in purchasing properties, developing commercial and residential real estate, and structuring farmland purchases and operations. Real estate attorneys have also handled trusts and corporate structures for hotels, condo hotels and the required permits for developing agriculture activities before the national authorities.
Litigation & Arbitration:
The litigation division handles complex cases, involving local and cross-border issues. Among many recognitions, the firm’s litigation team obtained the first ruling by a Uruguayan court on international lis pendens, a leading case on behalf of a Fortune 100 corporation, while the firm’s arbitration experience extends beyond borders, with main litigators involved in multi-million dollar engagements in arbitration processes locally and in foreign venues, including the most relevant international arbitration on the meat industry (London).
Tax & Accounting / Company Incorporation:
The firm’s tax and incorporation department, highly strengthened with the presence of Andersen, which is a global leader in tax matters, manages hundreds of local and offshore corporations and advises foreign investors setting up operations in Uruguay’s dozen tax-free trade zones. It has developed a sustained method of advice on Price Transfer, which has enabled cross border advice related to taxation.
