Chiagozie Hilary-Nwokonko - Partner, Streamsowers & Köhn
Chiagozie is a Partner at Streamsowers & Köhn and heads the Firm’s Energy and Natural Resources and Legislative Advocacy Practice Groups. He is widely regarded as being in the top rank of Nigerian solicitors, combining intellectual depth with commercial nous. He is also ranked by Chambers Global as an expert in Nigerian energy & projects. Chiagozie has acted as team leader in several notable energy transactions, one of which was the listing of an oil and gas company on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange in 2012, which was the largest listing of an oil and gas company at the time. In 2020, he led the team advising an AIM quoted company on its acquisition for approximately £382,000,000. Chiagozie is a member of the Section on Energy and Natural Resources Law of the International Bar Association and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators.
Dr. Timothy Effiong Okon - Managing Partner, Teno Energy Resources
Dr. Timothy Effiong Okon is a geophysicist, petroleum economist, corporate strategist and financial consultant. He is regarded as the foremost expert in Petroleum Economics with almost 40 years of. Oil and Gas Industry experience. Dr. Okon started his career in 1978 as a Geophysicist/Exploration Interpretation Supervisor and served in various capacities in the Exxon Mobil Organization in the US, UK, Angola, and Indonesia. He joined NNPC as the Group General Manager (Corporate Strategy) in June 2007 and rose to the position of Acting Group Executive Director (Exploration and Production). From 2015-2019 he served as the Special Adviser on Fiscals to the Minister of State of Petroleum Resources. Dr. Okon is currently the Managing Partner of Teno Energy Resources – an Oil and Gas consulting firm based in Abuja, FCT. He is also a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, the International Association of Energy Economists, the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, and the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationist.
Marc Hammerson - Partner, Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP
Marc Hammerson is a leading oil & gas lawyer with over 27 years of experience in advising companies, governments and lenders on M&A and projects in this sector. Marc is ranked in Chambers UK as a leading practitioner based in London and also by Chambers Global as an acknowledged overseas expert in Nigerian energy & projects. Marc’s experience in Nigeria expands over two decades and he has been involved advising major international oil companies, local companies, banks and other lenders on their investments. Marc is the co-editor of Oil and Gas M&A: A Practical Handbook (ed. 2014) and Oil & Gas in Africa: A Legal and Commercial Analysis of the Upstream Industry (ed. 2015)
Gloria Biem - Senior Associate, Streamsowers & Köhn
Gloria is a Senior Associate in the Firm’s Energy and Natural Resources Group. She is a highly motivated lawyer and advises a diverse clientele on oil and gas and electricity transactions as well as advising on corporate and commercial issues. Gloria has advised several local and international companies on the acquisition of oil and gas assets in Nigeria, issues of regulatory compliance and regulatory interface. Gloria holds a master’s degree in Oil and Gas Law from the University of Aberdeen and is a member of several local and international energy associations.
Joanna Lane Editor – Canada, Africa, Caribbean, the Middle East and Offshore Chambers and Partners
Joanna joined Chambers in 2010 as a researcher on the Global team, before being promoted to Deputy Editor. She took on the role of Editor of the Canada guide in its inaugural year in 2014, and was appointed editor of Chambers Global (ROW) in 2019. Prior to moving to London she worked at a nightlife magazine in Singapore, and taught English in Taiwan. Joanna grew up in Canada, and graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa with a degree in International Development. She also completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism at the London School of Journalism.
