Omar Bassiouny, Founding Partner and Head of Corporate and M&A - Matouk Bassiouny
Omar S. Bassiouny is a Founding Partner of Matouk Bassiouny. Mahmoud Salah Bassiouny is the Regional Managing Partner of Matouk Bassiouny and heads the Finance & Projects practice group. His 16 years of experience in trade and project finance and in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors has earned him the trust of international commercial banks, export credit agencies and major players in the energy industry. He has excellent working relationships with conventional and Islamic financiers working in Egypt.Mahmoud advises major oil and gas, and energy players, public and private parties,lendersand consultancy firms on various issues related to their business. He has also extensive experience in matters of security creation and perfection. His sector expertise includes energy, aviation, real estate development, heavyindustriesand power & infrastructure.
Jirayr Habibian, Managing Partner of Matouk Bassiouny’s UAE Office - Matouk Bassiouny
Jirayr is the Managing Partner of MatoukBassiouny’sUAE Office. He brings in a wealth ofexperience of working in the fields of corporate finance, trade finance, M&A transactions and capital markets across multiple jurisdictions including the UAE, Lebanon, Armenia, Egypt,Turkeyand Jordan.Prior to joining Matouk Bassiouny, Jirayr acted in a variety of senior roles with leading international banks including acting as Chief Legal Officer and Board Secretary ofInvestbank, Chief General Counsel and Head of Regulatory Affairs atRasmalaInvestment Bank, Head of Legal and Compliance at Bank of Sharjah, Regional Head of legal and compliance at Standard Chartered Bank, and non-Executive Director of the Board of Directors of Lebanese Swiss Bank. Jirayr currently focuses his practice on M&A transactions, trade finance, corporate finance (including debt restructuring), listing and IPO readiness and general corporate advisory.
Jean- Jérôme Khodara, Partner Corporate and M&A - Matouk Bassiouny
Jean-Jérôme Khodara is a Partner in MatoukBassiouny’sCorporate and M&A Practice Group and the Head of the Firm’s Algeria practice. Prior to joining Matouk Bassiouny, Jean-Jérôme worked with the French international law firm GideLoyretteNoueland the groupLafargeHolcim, where he was in charge of M&A transactions in Africa & theMiddle-East(including Algeria where he was based for over a year). Jean-Jérôme advises on corporate transactions with a focus on complex cross-border deals. His expertise includes the setting-up of joint-ventures as well as managing all phases of M&A transactions, including structuring, negotiation and drafting the transaction documents.
Oliver Dimsdale, Deputy Editor - Chambers and Partners
Deputy Editor - Chambers Global (ROW). Ollie has been with Chambers and Partners for several years, initially starting as a Researcher on Chambers Asia-Pacific before working his way up to Assistant Editor. In 2016 he became Deputy Editor of Chambers Global, with specific responsibilities for the Middle East, North Africa and Offshore Caribbean. He graduated from the University of Warwick with a BA in English & Theatre Studies (2006) and an MA in English Literature (2007). He also separately obtained an MLitt in Creative Writing from the University of St Andrews (2010).
