Flavio Gianetti, Executive Director, Head of M&A and Group Shareholdings Department - Intesa Sanpaolo

Flavio Gianetti is Executive Director – Head of M&A and Group Shareholdings Department at Intesa Sanpaolo. Flavio graduated in Economics in 1991 and joined Sanpaolo IMI Bank in 1995 after a previous experience in the insurance sector. In M&A and equity investments, he took on roles of increasing seniority until becoming Head of M&A and Group Shareholdings Department in 2019. Over the years he has managed a total of about 60 equity M&A transactions for a value close to 40 billion euros. Between 2014 and 2018 he was Head of Investment Management and Special Transactions Department within the capital light bank unit of the Group with responsibility for the sale of non-performing loans, non-core shareholdings and the management of subsidiaries to be restructured. He has been board member of banks, insurance companies, investment funds and real estate companies in Italy and abroad.

David Soanes. UK Country Head, UBS Group and Vice Chairman, Global Banking - UBS Investment Bank

David Soanes is UK Country Head, UBS Group and Vice Chairman, Global Banking, UBS Investment Bank. David graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge University in 1991 and joined UBS. In 2000, David was appointed Head of Debt Capital Markets for Financials in EMEA and in 2004 to head all investment grade DCM business in Europe. In 2008 David was appointed Head of Equity Capital Markets and Debt Capital Markets (Global Capital Markets) for EMEA. David was appointed Global Head of GCM in 2011 when he joined the Investment Bank's Executive Committee. In 2012 David was appointed head of all Investment Banking for EMEA and in 2013 to Global Head of FIG, a role he held until September 2019. In 2014 David became UK Country Head for UBS Group and a member of the UK Executive Committee and Board member of the UBS Ltd Board of Directors.

Giovanni Pedersoli, Partner - Pedersoli Studio Legale

Giovanni Pedersoli is a Partner operating in the Corporate and Commercial, Mergers and Acquisitions, Private Equity practices at Pedersoli Studio Legale. He has gained an in-depth experience in Italian company law, in particular in mergers and acquisitions, private equity and cross-border deals. Moreover, he assists Italian banks in relation to highly complex cross-border acquisitions and disposals. Giovanni received his Law Degree (J.D.) from Università degli Studi di Milano in 1993, and the LL.M. Degree (C.J.) from New York University School of Law in 1995. He was admitted to the Italian Bar in 1997 and to the New York Bar in 1996.

Giulio Sandrelli, Partner - Pedersoli Studio Legale

Giulio Sandrelli is a Partner in the M&A and Financial Institutions departments at Pedersoli Studio Legale. He has a broad experience advising in large M&A transactions, especially involving public companies, as well as on corporate governance and general corporate issues. His area of expertise covers corporate and regulatory aspects in the assistance to banks, financial intermediaries and asset management industries. Giulio is now Assistant Professor of Business Law at Università degli Studi “Roma Tre” and Academic Fellow at Bocconi University, Milan. He authored several publications in corporate and securities law matters.

Alessandro Zappasodi, Partner - Pedersoli Studio Legale

Alessandro Zappasodi is a Partner in the Financial Institutions department at Pedersoli Studio Legale. He mainly assists Italian and foreign regulated entities and investors in connection with day-to-day operations and extraordinary transactions, as well as with respect to complex domestic and EU regulatory matters, with specific focus on banking, financial and insurance sectors. His experience focuses on a broad spectrum of issues concerning banks, asset managers, investment firms, insurance companies, and other regulated entities. His expertise also includes assistance to banks and financial intermediaries in enforcement and sanctioning procedures brought by the Bank of Italy, the Italian Securities Exchange Commission or the Italian Insurance Supervisory Authority. He received his Law Degree (J.D.), with honours, from Università LUISS Guido Carli in Rome in 2003, the Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Columbia University School of Law in New York in 2009 and was admitted to the Italian Bar in 2006.

Janine Heim, Deputy Editor - Chambers & Partners

Before joining Chambers, Janine studied Communication and Archaeology at the University of Queensland in Australia. After graduating, she worked for a start-up in Brisbane before going to the University of Bristol to pursue a Master’s in International Security. She further completed a PG Certificate in Antiquities Trafficking and Art Crime at the University of Glasgow and is fluent in both German and English.
