About

Provided by Zurcher, Odio & Raven

Private companies are the State´s greatest ally when it comes to developing large infrastructure projects. Over the last 25 years, the firm´s partners working on this area have served as legal advisors in both sides of the equation, advising the Public Administration and the private investors or developers.

We understand how the system works, so that when one of our clients has an idea that may benefit the public interest, we can actively seek to discuss it with the corresponding public entities; observing the most rigorous transparency standards. Also, our experience gives us a better understanding of most of the obstacles that large projects face, and the possible schemes to overcome them.

Also, one of our main differentiator is that the Head of Department, Claudio Donato Monge, has served as a recurrent consultant for the Public Administration, regardless of the Administration or Government in power. That gives our advisory an edge as we truly understand both sides of the equation, and we know the concerns, limitations, weaknesses and strenghts of dealing with the Costa Rican Public Administration.

The past two years have been slower regarding large infrastructure projects. However, that is expected to change in the short term, with some large interesting projects in the horizon in the fields of energy, railways, ports and highways.
