This informal collaboration of highly respected law firms occurs between Spanish giant Uría Menéndez and its closest allies in Latin America. Included among its members are several existing significant regional players known for their transactional prowess, as well as domestic big hitters. The alliance also boasts strong cooperation with a select group of non-member firms, invariably from jurisdictions in which there is no active member, such as in Ecuador, Brazil or Central America. Integration includes joint training sessions among young partners and senior associates of the mainly full-service transactional firms that make up the alliance. In this sense, the Escuela Uría is a pivotal project. Training is held annually in Latin America and is attended by representatives from Uría Menéndez's European 'Best Friends' alliance and Latin American firms. Madrid-based Eduardo Rodríguez-Rovira and Rafael Jiménez as well as New York-based practitioner José Félix Zaldívar are the key network contacts.
